This prize is awarded to the best paper presented at the annual meeting exploring the global import or history of American philosophy. This award particularly encourages reflection on the history or usefulness of American philosophy in contexts such as India, China, Asia and the Pacific, and Africa. All papers which extend beyond the European-North American context are welcome for consideration, and the award committee reserves the right to give preference to regions, figures, and traditions not covered by other SAAP prizes. This prize is established in memory of Herman Stroud.
