Call for Papers for Special Issue of “The Elemental”: Proceedings from the Summer Institute in American Philosophy 2024, University of Hawai’i at Hilo

Special Issue Editor: Dr. Celia Bardwell-Jones, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

The Summer Institute in American Philosophy (SIAP) met at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo during June 24-28, 2024. Having the conference situated on Hawai’i Island, the elemental speaks to the more than human world grounded within a specific Indigenous context and place in Hawaiʻi. The elemental broadly envisions a philosophy of nature that encompasses values of community, engagement, place, and relationality that intimately guide our elemental responsibilities, which are nested within natural environments.

Presenters at SIAP 2024 are encouraged to submit their presentations to the Pluralist.

We are seeking submissions no longer than 6000 words. Please include a 250-300 word abstract. We welcome submissions beyond a typical academic paper, which includes poetry, art, short musings, video, etc.
