The Pragmaticism of Peirce fosters rather than forecloses inquiry into religion. The panel hopes to demonstrates the viability of Pragmatist(ic) inquiry into modern religious experience, exploring evolving conceptions of experiential religion. What is a viable ethos of inquiry and where are the sacred spaces for creative religious engagement in these latter days of modernity? “Education as Sacred Space for Pragmaticism” finds that Peirce exemplifies the willingness to follow one’s own reason and conclusions as the most reliable practice of education, with instinct leading us into the sacred. Peirce shapes a sacred space for pragmatistic education of value to higher education today. “Ethos, Creativity, and the Experience of Sacred Space: Religious Affections from Edwards to Peirce” inquires into the basic components of an architectonic of religious inquiry in Peirce and Edwards, where engagement with the sacred requires an ethos of risk and creativity in inquiry, open to transformation rather than stasis.
